hi rffers
wanted to do a price check on an older 50mm summilux lens.
they dont come up that often for sale and i was wondering what the prices are for this
i am refering to the black kind, w or w/o 50 on barrel and W/O buildin hood
(i know keh has one ex for 900++ usd but thats keh pricing...)
thanks everyone

Mark I can only offer you my experience which is now almost 1 year old. I bought one on eBay, no 50 on the barrel, s/n 2504xxx made in 1972. I think I paid $950 for it but it was from an estate, apparently not used much and with a Leitz UV filter on the front which had probably been there from day 1 judging by the condition of the engraving on the rim. I sent it to DAG for a CLA and it came back perfect; CLA cost was $100. So the whole thing cost $1050. Whether that's a good price or not now I have no idea but that's what I paid a year ago.

Mine is the same version as Peter's, bought about 6 months ago, from KEH, bargain condition. The glass is perfect, the barrel shows use, $700.

oppz wrong category?
already pm mods to move it to leica M category

so if one can get the lens at perhaps 600-650
would that make it a good deal?
cosmetics at 8/10 (some signs of use and minor brassing i suppose)
but optics are excellent...

My Leica lens price guide
http://members.aol.com/dcolucci/a.htm

has the 1st version ( exc, used condition ), serial 1,645,300 - 1,844,000
at $ 700 and the version II, serial 1,844,001-until built-in hood
at $ 800.

condition is everything and 'lux's have been in HIGH demand the last 6 months due to the M8

for the 600-650 range you wont be getting much, I saw one go for about that much but it had haze and scratches and what not, but that was an earlier chrome one. Recently on evilbay one that you would like went for 850 number: 180113854136

Hey! That's my lens that Mark's asking about!

We had a nice long chat on the phone this afternoon.

Great guy. Great conversation.

One thing about us rangefinder folk... we're REALLY into rangefinders!!!
