Does anyone here shoot with an Olympus Ace? I have only shot a couple rolls with mine, I think it is okay, though I am not quite use to it yet. There isn't much info around on them, any opinions?

I had been lead to believe that results from Ace lenses would be "ok" or "good", but nothing spectacular. The results I've seen from Shadowfox convinced me that the Ace is, indeed, a real sleeper. I think the newsstand photo (2nd one in the thread) is a superbly fortuitous combination of factors: the character of the Ace lens, the lighting, the film, and a great scan.
It's still in my ePray search list. After my acquisition of a scanner, it may be the next stop.

daaris, I like your posted pictures, especially the first one. The lens is a tad soft, but the colors are beautiful. Which to me means a lot of pretty portraiture images to be had 🙂
As Trius (the resident Oly-master) had posted in timely manner (thanks, Earl!), do take a look at the results that I got. I'm curious as to what you think.
Either way, I think we are the only two people in this forum shooting with this little gem. Please take a picture of yours and post it here.

I had been curious about this sytem - it looks interesting, elegant, compact and produces good results. Sadly, no really fast lenses.

About half a year ago, a full Ace system went for quite cheap on Dutch eBay. Maybe I should've taken the plunge. (On the other hand, it saved me money to buy a Hexar AF)

I agree about the fast lenses... if the normal had been f2 or f1.7 (and Oly did have a fixed lens RF w/ f1.8 or 1.7 at the time), it would be even more attractive. The other thing I wonder about is whether a CLA on the lenses might not improve things; I've seen results that are significantly softer than Shadow's and daaris'. That could be due to any number of factors, but I find it hard to believe that all of the Ace lenses, as old as they are, are in perfect alignment... not to mention RF critical adjustment.
As has been noted, the colour rendition is beautiful, and the contrast is great.
Hey shadow, have you ever tried any Agfa Vista 200 in the Ace? I've got some if you want to give it a try.

The camera does shoot a little soft, however I must say the actual photo looks much sharper than the version on screen after scanning and jpeg conversion.
Mine is the Ace, no meter. The more I shoot with this camera the more I like it, the size and weight are perfect. There might be not be many available now but maybe more people with discover this camera. I have decided to take it with me on vacation to Italy this summer! Here are the pics:

daaris: Wow, yours are in pristine condition. Mine is a bit rusted, but it's a testament to Olympus build quality, the operation is still very smooth.
Trius: I can do better than that, if you want, PM me your address and I'll send the Olympus Ace on vacation to the Northeast with you. That way you can test the film for me 😀. Of all people, I know you can appreciate the camera the most. What say you?

Yay! After over a year of searching, I finally have a lens on my Ace, and a roll of XP2 loaded. 🙂
Not a lightweight, but a great camera to use. Nice to have such a rarity in the collection. I can just imagine what Olympus could have come up with if they continued the interchangeable line. Can you imagine how gorgeous a 35SP with different lenses could be? Wow.
