I have jusr rewound an exposed 36 Black and White XP2 in my Zorki 1
I forgot to put the lens cap on!!!
What are the chances of a ruined film?
Thanks for any info

If the shutter curtain material is ok, your film should be ok. It's not like the shutter is open when you rewind..

If the shutter curtains have holes in them however, the film is spoilt already going through the camera the first time..

Thanks I should be OK Iwill send the film for processing .
Why is it always the film with what you think will be good shots.
Thanks again

You're welcome, and if you did make great shots, don't hesitate to showcase them!

I think the whole confusion comes from very old Barnacks that need the lens capped when you advance the film and wind the shutter. The first and second shutter curtains move back then, and the front edge of the one and the rear edge of the other are so close that some light may poke through. But when you rewind and the shutter isn't kept halfway between wound up and unwound, there should be no problem.

Unless the last shutter speed you used was "B" before you started rewinding and the shutter was fully or partially cocked, you need not worry about light going through the shutters duing rewinding. When the shutter is at B and cocked, shifting to rewind mode will release the first curtain, and the second curtain will be detained, leaving a gap where the film can be exposed.
