Hmm, the new 25 looks alot nicer. It doesn't look like it inherited that "cheap" look, from the old 25.

Hey, the "old style" is not cheap looking. It is the look that was common in the early 50's before the advent of the large plastic focusing rib look that was popularised in the mid fifty's. The old look looks coolcto me, very retro especially in chrome or silver. I must admit that the larger knurled focus and aperature rings were and are alot more ergometric

How is this lens different from the 25/4 Snapshot?
1.instead of screw mount it is Leica Bayonet mount
2. it is rangefinder coupled [biggie]
3. instead of the focus peg it has wings for both the focus and little builup ups for the apeture ring
4. it does NOT come with a viewfinder
5. and it has the inside lens cap instead of the outside cap

this is from the lens chart on Cameraquest:

3.6 oz L/W 24(29.5)(47) x 49.5mm for the snapshot Skopar

5.1 oz L/W 26(31) x 55mm color skopar

did I mention it is coupled?😀

Thanks, Dan, it indeed seems like a lens one ought to have. Especially now that I'm considering buying my friend's M6. Negative is that I'd have to buy a slip-on viewfinder at extra cost.

Did you have a chance to compare the new one vs old one? I know it's supposed to be the same optical design, but still.... Any results you can post?
Thanks.
