New to extrernal viewfinders as i am i found them delicate and fragile with their convex front glass.

Both my 15mm lens and finder are small and i would like to have some kind of soft insert with seperate places for them both to store in my bag. Or some other good practise.

How do you store your viewfinder?

I have and use a few different external VFs. The finder that came with my CV21 came with a small cloth bag. I keep the finder inside that in a separate pocket in the camera bag. The 135 finder I got for my J-11 is just slightly too big for a 35mm film canister, so I asked my mom to sew me another small cloth bag modeled on the CV bag and it also is in the pocket. The Russian turret finder was a little harder--I have the cool Bakelite box that it came in but that's a little bigger than I wanted to carry around. And it rattles. I found a good solution in some small baby food containers they are from Gerber and are rectangular with snap on lids. Just about the perfect size(80mm x 60mm x 55mm) to hold the finder. And the price was right as well: free from one of my co-workers--she asked me if I wanted anymore of them, they tend to accumulate. :D

I keep mine in small satin bags. My mother was kind enough to make them for me. Then I just pile them up in a lens pocket of my bag.

I've got the little leather case that came with the Leica 21-24-28 VF, but that VF is about to go up on the classifieds. I have a 40mm VF thhat I keep in a small flannel or something bag. I've heard some folks use jewelry boxes- those clap shut clamshell type. The CV lenscases have a separate compartment for the finder on top- a great design I think.
