i recently received a Megaperl 1.3x viewfinder magnifier eyepiece and put it in my r4a. i have found that this makes the camera far easier to reliably focus the 28 ultron at f/1.9, the 40 is more useable on this body. i'd say even 50mm lenses are useable. i know some of you are asking 'why would you get a wide-body and then make it less wide. well, because i can. i can still use it to frame to 21mm without an external finder. and i can always remove the new eyepiece.

the 21 framelines are still visable, however you really need to move your eyeball to see the righthand side of them. but for quick framing, it worked really well. the 25mm lines require a little less effort to see and the 28mm lines are easy to see without moving the eye. if i were going to do some shooting where i was using my 21 pancake almost exclusively, i'd put the original eyepiece back in. for now, i'm really happy with the new one.

i should point out the new eyepiece sticks out a little. i'm ok with it but it would be nice to fit some sort of cup or something to make it less noticeable.

one thing, the new eyepiece has an adjustable diopter, it took me a while to find exactly where it was right. i kept asking myself: 'is that sharper, or just a little bit blacker...' :p

I honestly was thinking the same thing. Is there a Megaperl specifically for the Bessa?

i don't wear glasses, but i do often take pictures with my sunglasses on. there is no rubber ring on the rim. i think i'd like to have something to keep from scratching the glasses and also keep the diopter adjustment from drifting.

i used the magnifier for the r-d1 and it fits perfectly. i'll try to take a photo in the next few days. you can get it from this site and there are photos on the site.
note i have no association with them...
