There's just something about the thrill of listening to an album you've never heard before and instantly loving it.

Some bands I've really been liking lately:
Lucero- Alt/Punk Country
Drag the River- Alt. Country
Old Crow Medicine Show- Modern Bluegrass?
Ratatat- Electronic/Hip-Hop
Soulwax- Remixes
Girl Talk- Mashups

Anybody else have some new favorites to share?

anybody heard of Rogue Wave? Damn good.
Architecture in Helsinki
Art Brut
Arcade Fire
Decemberists
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

all fantastic bands.

Rogue Wave are just great; you might want to check out Broken Social Scene.
AIH are amazing, their new album, whilst not as good as In Case We Die, is pretty ood, and We Died, They Remixed (a remix of In Case We Die by varius other artists) is a really good mix.
Arcade Fire, love them, saw them live a few years back.

My suggestions include:
The Postal Service, nice electronic soft pop/rock
Uffie, mad electronica rap hybrid
Blue October, simple but effective rock
City & Colour, stunning acoustic goodness
Rocy Votolato, see above
Nouvelle Vague, bossa nova covers of post-punk classics

That will do for now.

ratatat - now that is interesting, kinda digging it...thanks.

my suggestions:
Aggrolites - Reggae hit LA (i'm really impressed by this album...great production)
Melodramatic - Melodramatic
Stephen Marley - Mind Control

I think that Arcade Fire is the best group today, no doubt about it.
I will take in consideration your recommendations. These are mine:

- The Soul Snatchers. (Listen this song: Sniffin' snatchin. It's brutal)
- Sidonie - Fascinado.
-The wedding crashers.
- Ludovico Enaudy.
- Amy Winehouse - Rehab.

May I suggest you to listen to the windband of my village?
Of course we are an amateur band (I play flute/piccolo), but I think that our concert programs always offer a wide choice of music.
I am sure you cannot find any recording of our concerts, apart from the audio tape we produce for us and our friends and not for sale.
We cannot be compared to professional bands, but we try our best to offer few enjoyable hours to our audience and supporters.

Have a nice day!

i'm currently revisiting LPs i've had for a while... and am particularly obsessing about jonathan richman. but, last night i saw foootage of the smiths on TV. oh my god, so good!!!

:)

My latest obsession is Giacinto Scelsi, especially his piano music, which is utterly beautiful.

I try and hear something new and unfamiliar every week. Haven't had a chance to listen to Motor Ghost yet Anna, just haven't been anywhere near the record player for a couple of weeks, and at the moment a back problem means I'm not mobile enough to get out of London and go home to listen to it.

Allan Vainola's solo album was something I loved the first time I heard it.
Rush and Pink Floyd are among my favourites also, but they arent new.
