Hi Shadowfox. I just received a 35 DC from #bay and it cleaned up pretty well. I was wondering if you know how the shutter works, do the shutter blades form the aperture as well control the speed. Mine looks "lazy" on the slower speeds (it doesn't snap open and then snap shut like normal clockwork shutters) is yours the same? I'll put a film through it soon but I can't help thinking that the middle of the negative will get greater exposure than the edges. I'll be interested to hear how your shutter behaves.

Me again. Just ran a film through my 35-DC and the "lazy" shutter worked fine. Exposures were spot on.

Hi Howard,
I've been meaning to answer your question, but it slipped my mind. Without a manual aperture dial, I can't tell whether the aperture diaphragm is also the shutter, it seem so from looking at it from the front. A more technically savvy member should be able to tell us exactly.
Anyways, I'm glad that the camera works fine for you.
Now, share some of your images here, don't keep it all to yourself

I know exactly how you feel...I bought a virtually brand new Black OM-1n with a "non working meter"....turned out that the meter was "non working" due to there was no battery hahaha....

Congratulations! Always nice to get a dud in order, and that one looks like she's in top shape now. Is that camera the came size as the 35RC? If it is, I may have to go out on the hunt for the case you have on it. I'd love to get one on my RC!

Hi Jay, unfortunately, the 35 DC is a bit bigger than the RC. It's the same size as the RD and ED. About the case, I agree, it would be the ultimate in classiness if you can find similar one for your RC.

Are you still enjoying your DC?

I had a similar situation with 35DC. I found one at a thrift store in a pipe of cheap plastic pointer and shoots and a few broken cameras. The rangefinder patch didn't move while focusing. Picked it up for $8 or so. Spent a few hours working on it and had a practically new camera.
The 35DC had an opposite effect on me - it made me desperately want a 35RD. About 6 months later, I found one. It went out for a CLA due to oily blades - it will hopefully be coming back soon. I'm extremely excited to get out shooting with it. I expect it to bump the Canonet 17 GIII as my default fixed lens rangefinder.

Hi,
i always liked the 35 DC, But has i have an RD i think i will never buy it.
I am making now a test to compare the 35 RD with the Canon QL17 GIII, with the same film on the cameras and some pictures in different situations to compare them. I don't know the results but i almost bet that the RD is slightly better...

Truth is beauty
Good to see that test... By the way, Will's shots show that 40 1.7 and camera metering are great... Small and nice bokeh!
Cheers,
Juan
