I picked one up at a 'Summer Festival' camera sale here two weekends ago. It came with the original case and lens cap (also battery voltage converter.) I just got my negs & prints back last night and I'm stunned. What a great camera!!
I can't believe these hand-held shots came out okay, even with ISO 400 film (Kodak TRI-X.)

It was a GSN that was stolen from me last weekend - I'd only put three films through it - I'm certainly going to replace it as the results you get are stunning, it has an incredible quality all of its own.
Good photos above, shows how well the GSN does in all sorts of tricky conditions

Simon - I didn't click on that you'd lost the GSN as well as the CV35
Well, I guess you're just gonna have to go out and get another one - looks like a gem of a camera!

I have the 35 Electro GSN with the 45mm/1.7 lens. It is an excellent camera with a flaw ...no manual over-ride.

I'll agree with that comment - give me the lens, the meter and the ability to over-ride as and when I want and you've got a seriously good camera....but even without, for the money, excellent as you say.

If for some reason I HAD to sell everything but could keep one camera it would be my GTN......
and I own some stuff costing anywhere from hundreds to thousands more....

I believe I once read something about someone converting a G(S)(N) lens to Leice thread. Gotta check that.

Film is the other way
I've been a longtime fan of Yashica glass. I have accumulated several of their RF's and am continually impressed.
Regarding Raid's comment, I have never had a "problem" with not knowing the exposure speed. I have just changed my style to deal with that in other ways. You can see some of my Yashica stuff in my galleries.

Manual Over-ride
Manual Over-ride
I usually re-set my ASA (ISO) dial on the GSN to either over or under expose the shot as needed. Half the film speed you are using and you over expose by one stop - double the speed and you under expose one stop. The ratio continues as such.
Not totally manual in that you are not certain as to the exact shutter speed used but still a degree of 'over-ride'.

Hub those shots are awsome! I really like the third shot. So the GSN doesn't operate like the Canonet? Do you know what shutter speed you took the photos at? Wed. evening for 4th July fireworks I took my QL-17 out and even with 800 speed film after it got dark I felt that I had trouble getting a decent exposure. I'm fairly new to night photography and would like to see some good sucess like you. Oh I wasn't trying to shoot the fireworks I had my SLR mounted on a tripod for that. I was trying to get some shots of the people beforehand with my Canonet.

Thanks!
I don't know what the shutter speed was; the camera doesn't say. I got the "slow" warning so the shots were 1/30 or lower. I'm not familiar with the Canonet. On the GS I set the shutter speed to "Auto" then chose the aperture I wanted.

According to some it is no different from the chrome models from the same period. All three I have handled have been quite nice. The focus is smooth and the lens tight. The viewfinders are brighter than the later GSNs but the contrast is lower. The brighter finder makes it easier for low light focusing. It has the traffic light exposure lamps which are very bright, perhaps too bright for low-light shooting without modification. The rangefinder has some extra shielding inside. The wind mechanism is more robust. I like the style of the back on these with the separate latch. The lens coating also appears to be different on these. Really special? If I only had one Electro I would keep this one, but that is just my preference....Rogerraid said:What's the professional model? Is it really special? How?
