Hello

Has anyone here used Tetenal film developers? My local store has Tetenal Ultrafin in stock. Tetenal website says its a fine grain developer, good for push processing. Has anyone here used it? What can I expect from it? I would probably use it for Tri-x at 3200 or 1600.

Our school (Oulu Lyseo high school) has a darkroom that I use every week when I'm not on holiday. The cabinet holds a bottle of Ultrafin but it's nearly empty and old, really old. Haven't dared to use it. Why don't you be the pioneer and post us the results? 🙂

I've used Tetenal Ultrafin Plus on Ilford Delta 100, but haven't tried pushing. You can see some results from last year's Clean Monday festivities in Athens.

I'm pleased in general with Tetenal chemicals. I've been using the Superfix Plus as a fast, one shot fixer with 1:7 dilution for several years. It would be nice to see your results.

I will try it, but in a few weeks. Its quite expensive compared to d76 🙂

I use tetenal ultrafin liquid(the one that dilutes 1+10/20/30) widely. I pushed TMAX 400 to 1600 with success. There are a lot of results in my blog(check the tagsa re not diafine)

Apparently the shelf-life is only 6 months in a closed bottle. It might go bad before I manage to use it all up.

I used a bottle taht was half full and expired for 6-10 years. no problems.

Hi Matis,

I have used Ultrafin on TriX and HP5 up to 800 and FP4 up to 400 at 1+10 and 1+20 However, I never pushed any further. I think the datasheet that came with it did not give any numbers for pushing higher. Generally, I was quite pleased with the results. Sorry, I do not have any examples online, since my scanner broke down recently. It also sells in a small bottle of 125ml which will be good for 4-5 rolls. Try this one to test the results.

Nevertheless, I switched to Rodinal, since I like the added grain.

Generally, I use only Tetenal Superfix Plus 1+5 for fixing my rolls and paper. Shelf life is quite good, if kept under Protectan gas (also sold by Tetenal).
I also use Tetenal Variospeed W 1+9 (warm tone developer) for my paper (PE and Baryt).
All in all, I can recommend their chemicals.
