No more slides at Applied Imaging...

No more slides at Applied Imaging...

Thanks for the HU Terence. Sounds tempting; I might just hop on a bus next weekend. The last time was at your exhibition...

KL folks- you'll probably have heard that Applied Imaging in TTDI will no longer do E6 from 15th July
"... we find it increasingly difficult to cost justify continuing the E-6 Process due to Customers/ Photographers migrating over to the Digital Media..
.. it is with our deepest regret to inform all concerned that we will be shutting down our E-6 Processing by 15th July (while chemical stocks last) and concentrate (sic) on the Digital Segment (Scanning & Printing) of our business"

They are giving up the ground floor (which mainly houses the E6 processor) & everything will be up on the 1st floor of their premises in Taman Tun

David

David, sad day indeed. Does this mean that it will be impossible to get any slides processed in KL?

Jin

So, you Singaporeens and Malaysians have started your own RangefinderSG. So, you don't want to be with us at RFF, he?

How many are you? Do you have any meets?

I do regularly business trips - which I combine with holiday - to Singapore and Malaysia. Usually an extra swing via Tioman Island, whiich I think is a fantastically beautiful place. I have done most of my photoshopping in Singapore in the last 6 years or so. Mostly at Cathay Photo as Marina Square. Yes, I know. They look more professional at the funan department, but I like to do business with Mr. Sam Jeva - prefered by the large norwegian expatriate community in Singapore for his low key european style of doing business.

Attached is one of my very fist pictures taken with my then brand new M8, out of my hotel window looking east towards Changi.

Show us some pictures from your beautiful area!

Hello Olsen,
This corner of RFF used to be quite active but now only sparks to life intermittently. I think there are more Singaporean than Malaysian RFFers... I can't really speak for either group (!) haven't met the Malaysians & the last time I met with some of the Singapore folk was about 2 years ago

Yes, my experience of Cathay Photo has been generally good. The other place I frequent is Ruby Photo in Peninsula Plaza, for XP2 particularly.

Cheers
David

I went thru Peninsula Plaza (right along side Funan, isn't it?) last time I was in Singapore, in April. But I can't remember... Do you have a link to Ruby Photo?

It took me a while to find a shop in Singapore to sell the new Zeiss Ikon. But i found it:

Pro Photo
68 Orchard Road
#4-13 Plaza Singapura
Singapore 238839

They are a subsidiary of Shriro who owns Imacon/Hasselblad. They also had XPans.

Any other shops in Singapore I should be aware of?

Ruby Photo are at

I visited the Hasselblad shop at Plaza Singapura a few months ago & spent most of the time admiring the one 903 SWC left in stock

Yea, that is an awesome camera! I bought the last Hasselblad demo model used at exhibitions etc. thru a dealer in Gothenburg. It is compact and light weight and easy to use. Focusing is no problem since DOF reaches from about one meter to infinity at aparture 11. I want to be burried with that camera. Buy it!

Hello Jin,
There's another lab, in SS2. Pretty sure they're still doing E6; I'll check next week & post the answer

Welcome to our corner of cyberspace.
Just wanted to let you know that Pro Photo is no longer at Plaza Singapura. I was disappointed to find that out 2 weeks ago when I visited.

Where oh where can we get the Zeiss from now?

Hva you been there? Do they have a camera shop, -or isn't it just offices? Where is Chang Charn Road, anyway?

By the way: Where in Singapore do you buy your Voigtländer equipment?

Hi! Olsen, sorry, I have not actually been there. From I heard it is the head office but also the same time selling stuff. They are the agent for Hasselblad also. It is somewhere near Alexandra hawker centre. PM me your email and I can scan a copy of the map for you.

As for Voigtlander stuff, there used to be a few shops selling, but now there is an official agent (but he has no office, just deal on internet or meet up), please refer to this site: http://www.chiifcameras.com/

Or if u are in Singapore, drop me a mail. I have a personal friend who maybe able to sell you some voigtlander stuff depends on what u want.

Very weird and un-Singaporeen not to have a shop!

Shriro is not only an agent for Hasselblad, they own Imacon/Hasselblad!

Thanks for your info. I just might take contact with you prior to my next Singapore visit. Most likely in March -April next year.

Voigtlander agent, Chii Fei, is a nice person to deal with and his service is excellent. You can email him before you come & check if he has stock of what you need and arrange for delivery. His email address & mobile number are in his Website, http://www.chiifcameras.com

I'm one of his many very satisfied customers.:)
