I've just acquired a Zorki C. It has an engraving on the back (see photo) which I cannot decipher. Anyone any clue?
Further, the Zorki C came withhout a lens. I would like to know what was the standard type of lens for this camera, so I can go surching for it.
thanks

If you want a normal you can choose between a Jupiter 8 (f/2) and an Industar 61 L/D (f/2.8). I doubt that the engraving is "typical".

I have seen that ingraving on somebody elses camera but I forgot what it means. I see the serial # starts with 57 so it's a 1957 manufacture. My zorki 2c is a 58 and has no ingraving on back. The standard lens is a industar 50 rigid according to Fedka. I would prefer the 50 collapsable. I have a Leitz elmar 50/3.5 from 1945 that I like to use on this camera. These are great cameras and youll enjoy it. Be careful loading it with film these cameras are a bit of a pain to bottom load sometimes. Heres the lens.

I found it and here it is. It's also a 1957 model.

Festival'niy. It's about a festival--which may have been something to do with the 20th anniversary of the October Revolution.

It was the 6th World Festival of Youth and Students, organised by the (Communist) Federation of Democratic Youth and International Union of Students - who are still going, although the party tends to be in places like Pyongyang and Caracas these days.
Apart from the Zorki, there is another interesting photographic story connected with the festivities - one which may be of interest.... a young American photographer headed from the festival in Moscow into China -

Zorki-S Festival
Zorki-S Festival
The festival was the 6th International Youth Festival held in Moscow in 1957 . The original lens would have been a collapsible Industar-22 50mm f/3.5.
These models are more expensive to buy on Ebay than the standard Zorki-S.

I have a lens for you, It's from a body I dismissed to the spares pile as its crushed on the lower left corner.
Zorki -C Festivals are quite rare and fetch higher prices among Ukrainian collectors.

Thanks all for your replies!!!
And napchop I really am interested in your spare lens, since to me the camera has only practical value with a lens. do a pm.

My 2C is also a '57 - it came with a matching '57 rigid I-50, not collapsible. I'm not sure if the C/2C would have differed but the rigid seems to be more common.fanshaw said:The festival was the 6th International Youth Festival held in Moscow in 1957 . If you're looking to get rid of the damaged body, I could find a use for it if you still have it...assuming you don't simply mean "shell" when you say "body"napchop said:I have a lens for you, It's from a body I dismissed to the spares pile as its crushed on the lower left corner.

I am pretty sure that the rigid I-50 was introduced with the 2S. All S models had the collapsible I-22 and so did early 2S cameras.

I already stripped some parts out of it for another. If there's a particular item you need let me know...

I need a working RF to transplant into my '39 FED. Had no luck in sourcing some half-silvered mirror to repair it...I'm guessing a Zorki will fit, if you still have that part...napchop said:I already stripped some parts out of it for another. If there's a particular item you need let me know...

Wolves, Edmund in the US make the 50:50 mirror you need. Rather large sheets. A year or so back I got a piece, cut almost to the right size for a Leica IIIc, from Oleg K: http://www.okvintagecamera.com/.

I don't fancy trying to get a sheet of glass from the USA! Admittedly I only need a small piece but that's just how it would arrive...in small pieces!payasam said:Wolves, Edmund in the US make the 50:50 mirror you need. Rather large sheets. Might try Oleg though...
