Leica LTM Panorama head for Leica 50cm lens

Never heard of one of these and I'm not entirely sure it's legit. Can someone with greater knowledge of these things enlighten me?

How would such a device work? Has anyone ever seen any pictures taken with one?

That is for real. Mechanical device that goes
between tripod and camera; you can then turn
the camera to make several shots, to be combined later into
a panorama. the markings on the lower ring show you the
"stepping angle" for each photo, obviously FOV dependent.

Roger Hicks had a writeup of it in Shutterbug a few years back, he essentially said that it's nice and overpriced and doesn't give much room for framing errors.

p.s. -- I think you mean 50mm lens. A 50cm lens is 500mm, and you would have to take hundreds of photos to get a panoramic photo.
