I was in my local camera store when they received a call asking if there was any kind of discount for processing 350 rolls of 135 and 750 rolls of 120.

I had about +100 rolls at most accumulated during 7 years with little shooting and the impossibility to get decent and ok priced E6 dev in my country. Managed to develop them off slowly last years and just have to say that thank god for digital as the good pro service for E6 and C41 has come to be found for many others at reasonable prices.

So did they offer the guy a discount?

BTW, I'm surprised you have local camera stores that do film processing. There are a couple of labs around here, not great by the way, and lots of places to have C41 processed, but there are no camera stores that process film. There are a couple that still sell the odd bit of film or will order it for you, but they are mainly interested in selling digital gear.

I have 70+ rolls from 9 months travel still in the cold storage, simple no time to do this. local camera store can't do all combinations of all developers. oh well, if D76 works for all films, they can be done.

This thread has provided the answer to my almost paralyzing question. I will not take a film camera on vacation tomorrow.

It is Blue Moon Camera (www.bluemooncamera.com).
They have only had 1 digital camera there in their 10 years.

I'm leaving on vacation in a few hours for Italy, and I take ONLY film cameras with me (ok: my wife takes a digital P&S).

I'll take my ZI with the skopar series of lenses (21, 28, 35, 50) and the VC 75mm), Bessa R4A and R3M, and a Agfa Isolette III.

Stefan.

sounds like a major film developing lab has gone out of business or needs outsourcing work and wants to send everything they've got from all stores to be developed there.

I recently listened to an old interview with Ryan McGinley from a few years ago where he said on a single one of his roadtrips he shoots around 4000 rolls of 35mm film. He also said that even when he was in school and didn't have a lot of money he shot about 100 rolls of expired film a week.

I have never had a batch of more than 20 or 39 films at once, but I did sent recently a scanning order of about 50 35mm films, 30 120 and quite some 4x5". Price? ... don't ask ...

i feel much, much better! i only have +270 rolls to proof or scan. Yes! They are developed. Big Deal. Thank goodness i use a P/S Digital..for my usual. Film is reserved for special shoots.
i went to Henry's in Toronto to buy Tri-X. 100 ft is over $104! Double the price! B&H in NYC is getting my order..
