I will be in Tokyo for work next week, and will be able to find one day to wander around taking photos and seeing what RF stuff's on offer in the best camera shops.
So...
Where to go for the best street photo opportunities? Lots of people, interesting context.
And which are the must-see shops for Leica and other RF stuff?
Thanks,
Simon

I would personally go to Map Camera in Shinjuku. Their rangefinder store is on the first underground floor. Amazing store.

Shinjuku is a great place for photos, too.

Bellamy, the 'Japancamerahunter' was so kind and gave us a very useful guide t0 used camera gear shops in Tokyo, including a google map: http://www.japancamerahunter.com/2013/05/the-complete-tokyo-camera-shopping-guide/
as for where to take photos it depends on what you are looking for:
a good area could be 'Harajuku', there is a metro station bearing that same name. Takeshta dori is an alley for the young and fashionable, nearby Omotesando the same a bit more upmarket. Nearby is the entrance to the Meiji shrine, and the bridge leading to it you may spot 'cosplay' performers and around the corner at the entrance to the Yoyogi park you may see people dressed up as rock'n rollers dancing to the beat.
Not very far from there is the famous Shibuya crossing, but just like Shinjuku it is a very busy shopping area. If you want more of the old city feeling walk around Asakusa, there also is the very beautiful Senso-ji temple, or get off Hanzomon metro line at Ningyocho station and walk around there
