1 million dollar Hasselblad

I thought they dumped the lenses and bodies on the lunar surface and only returned with the film backs. This to save weight for much more valuable moon rocks. I suppose the back could have jammed on the body making return with the whole unit necessary.

Ditto this. Though maybe this order changed on later missions? Anyone have a lead on this?

I wonder who the seller was. Those are not supposed to be in the hands of the public. I believe any that are, are considered stolen.

The lengths that some thieves go through, stealing cameras from the moon... tsss...

😀

At least it looks a lot better than the cr*p Hasselblad are selling to China these days!

there were 14 cameras on the moon and according to austrian press just one was able to make it back. it has been sold to a japanese at westlicht for the amount of 660.000 euros.

No lens hood ! No Luigi case !
Catalogue I suppose said "Near mint - but I know nothing about cameras"

Seriously: I wonder why they left the flash sync on the lens ?

If I remember it correctly when I was young there was an advertising from Hasselblad saying more or less :" you want one of our cameras? you can have it for free: just go to the moon and pick up one!"

PS: yes, it was many years ago...

historic instruments get played some times.

it would be nice if these treasures could be used on special occasions for photography. seems unlikely, though.

No finder was used for all those on the moon shots.

The astronauts just aimed the Hasselblad when held at waist level and fired away.
