Hi, I am having trouble screwing home a leizt elmar 3.5 50mm into a recently purchased 111a body. The lens was fine on its original Leica 111 body. But I cannot send it right home on this new body ' the plates of the body mount and Lens just stop short of meeting ?.. Any advice much appreciated. thanks john .

Hi John.
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago. http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158370
The problem is most likely culprit is the lens flange on your IIIa body. Either the flange itself is warped / out of round, or the threads are "buggered".
A little grease could help, if everything is dry.

As davidnewtonguitars mentions, I stated that I had a similar problem with my IIIG and a new Lomo Jupiter 3+ lens.
You should have the camera sent to the usual experts to have the body checked, and probably a new lens mount flange installed.

Sounds pretty obvious when you think about it, and with the experiences of others.
Bad luck - let us know how you progress.

Hi,
Most technicians should be able to recut the threads. Often all that happens is some of the thick gunge gets shifted or else the damage is sorted out.

Hi
I'd give that mount on the 3a a really good clean around the threads with lighter fuel on a cotton bud... I reckon it could be dried up grease...
Worth a go?
Good luck!
