120 Film ... is it possible to rewind it back to the main spool?

I just managed to run a complete roll of Panf through my Hasselblad today with the dark slide in which shouldn't be possible I realise ... my old style A12 back has a problem which allows such stupidity unfortunately. :bang:

Is it possible to return the film to the original spool without the paper backing bunching up? ... I'm reluctant to waste the roll!

I realise it can't be done in the film back of course but is it possible in a change bag or a darkroom?

Yea should be possible. Just tape the film to the backing on the end with no tape and start rolling......

This is often done when 120 is re-rolled on to 620 spools. There is a little more than 13 1/2 frames of actual film in the roll, so there is a little bit of leeway. For rewinding it on the same sort of spool you'll find that the tape needs to be repositioned when you get to the 'start' end of the rewind. This, or rather the spare film at the other end of the roll, falls well within the extra length available.

And yes, it is possible to get 13 frames on a roll of 120 in a lever-wind (ie. when you don't need to use the numbers on the backing-paper) camera - I've done this on my Pentacons, but eventually it got a bit annoying proofing the extra frames, as 13 won't fit on 10"x8", and storing the extra single negatives was inconvenient too !

On my Kiev the dark slide has to be completely in to stop the shutter tripping. If it is a couple of mills out it will not stop the shutter but still stop all light..... my guess is that nothing is wrong, only a darkslide not in its place.
