Corner performance is said to be quite poor on the NEX 16mm lens. I wonder if anyone here has compared performance on the 3 and 5 to performance with the new sensors--C3 I suppose is the only one out so far.

I only got one with the C3, so I can't compare. Overall I'd rate it an average performer compared to my wide APS-C zooms. But the corner performance is very, very poor compared to the 25mm equivalent primes I own (which are all medium or large format, I do not really know how bad the average 35mm or DSLR 25mm equivalent prime would be). As it was criticised for the same flaws on the old sensor bodies, I suppose the new sensor did not improve the lens significantly - but I have no first hand experience how bad it used to be...

This is the only evidence that I've seen that illustrates the 16mm is better, but still not great on the NEX-C3. Honestly, I bought the .75x converter, which does surprisingly little to affect IQ negatively on the 16mm, and I just crop out the extreme corners when I use this lens. It gives me about a 20mm-ish equiv., which is fine by me.

Even Sony's own MTFs for the 16mm aren't particularly stellar at the edges. I'm assuming that the wide zoom coming next year will be better.
