...just using on how well finished and well made a 1960 Kiev 4 would be - before it all went downhill fast . i guess there would have been less than 5,000 made and fewer survived ...it's just that i have seen one for sale from a less than great seller ....

I never saw a 1960 Kiev, but my two sisters are from 1962 and 1966, both are beautifully finished like an old 1937 Contax II.
I had a Kiev II from 1956 in my hands for some time and it was exactly like the Contax II, both finished and working. If it weren´t for the name, no one could distinguish which was what.
I like them as they are perhaps among the best Kievs ever made after the original Contax parts and tooling were exhausted in Arsenal Zavod.
Cheers

I have 2 61's that are well made and working like the original Contax II. I also have a 51 Kiev II.

My Kiev 4a is 1960. Well-made, somehow looks distinctly better than the 70s one I have (tho not quite as nice as the 52 II). But don't believe they're THAT rare. Nor should you have to pay that much. Mine was $17, IIRC, with a dodgy J8.
