2/35 Biogon Oil Leakage

Hi All,

I'm new to 35mm the rangefinder system. Today, I noticed some oil on the rear helicoid. My lens was bought new in Aug 2009 from B&H. I just sent Rich Schleuning (the guy at Zeiss Thornwood, NY) an email with pics. He replied within 5 minutes and told me to send the lens to him and Zeiss will replace it with a new lens. Apparently, he said it looks like some helicoid lubricating grease worked its way out. Go Figure that one, Right!

A reply in 5mins.! and the promise of a new lens! because a little grease worked out....I'd say that's good service!, these things happen now and then - what's the big deal? some folks would have wiped it off and gone shooting!

I'm sure if it was just a minor thing where you would just wipe off some grease and continue shooting, Zeiss would not immediately send me a new lens without even inspecting it first. Unless, I'm just too picky!🙂

That seems strange to give you a new one for that too, I'd have thought they'd just service it for you. Oh well, new is good!
