Just won an auction on a Fed 2 located in California.

I hate waiting for things to come from the Ukraine. That's why I'm a bit miffed at the other auction I won last week. The listing said it was located in Canada, but ends up, the only thing in Canada was the person accepting payment.

Yes, I realize now that the seller shows located in the Ukraine, but I never got past the item being located in Canada...according to the listing. The high shipping didn't put me off, I figured that was just another ploy to avoid bay fees.
Live and learn.
$81.61 later, two feds on their way from opposite ends of the earth. Crossing my fingers.

Somehow, I knew you'd ask that!
The only blue ones I've seen lately are the garish painted over variety...wouldn't be caught dead.

Second that. Last year I bought a Zorki from an eBay seller in the Ukraine and I had the camera nine days later. The seller even included a little postcard.
Of course, I'm currently on day #15 of waiting for my latest parcel to arrive (another Zorki).

I appreciate the optomism...it doesn't seem likely. This seller required a money order payment to Canada. So, I first had to wait for that to get there...that blew a week that could have been saved by paypal.
On the other hand, when I complained that the item was in the Ukraine, instead of Canada, he said he would ship it immediately on confirmation of payment.
We'll see. At least I should get the one from California in a few days. I'm just down the road in Arizona.

I bought a Leica from Austria [I thought] and had it shipped to Oleg. I emailed Oleg to let him know it was coming. 4 weeks, count 'em, F-O-U-R went by and O finally replied to me, "It arrived! Only, not from Austria - from Ukraine." Four weeks it took to come "down the street" so.to.speak.
One Leica from Oleg's workbench to my house - 10 days. 2 manuals from Colliefornya to my coffee table, 11 days and counting... and waiting... who knows?
2 FEDs? I'd say it's a coin toss which one gets there first. Ha! Man, ain't FSUs fun??? *one bang* :bang: *one red face*
Good luck Steve!!

I know the feeling. Ordered Leica from Austria - Europe so no duty. It arrived from Ukraine so I had to pay duty on it :bang: :bang:
I had a lens at the same time which did come from Austria. I think I know who you mean and I think he has a "shop" or contacts in both so it is a lottery where it comes from.

If it arrives in good shape, I'll be inclined to give postive feedback. On the other hand, this is a deceptive practice and I'd like to see the bay stop it.
Not sure what I'll do.

Deceptive, true. While one may have multiple shops/locations, a particular item can only be in one place. I just saw one, a lens - "Item location: Europe, Russia, United States"
I guess the [painstaking] other route would be to write the seller prior, "Where is this item REALLY?"

The solution is for ebay to crack down on that crap. They can surely search for listings like the one you point out.
It's just not acceptable.

There is a seller on German eBay who does that all the time. He even is registered somewhere in Germany (I think in Nuremberg), and all his auctions of Soviet stuff have a little piece of text saying "For this time, the item will be shipped from Ukraine."

Everyone wants a way around being open and honest.
I've had so much smoke blown up my skirt that I hardly know anything else.
