2008 – 2009 14 Day One Camera One Lens Challenge.

Proposed Rules and Schedule.

Commencing midnight 17th December 2008

Ending midnight 31st Dec 2008 (New Years Eve)

Camera Choice/one only … open but this is the only camera body you can use for leisure (non pro) photography for the stated period.

Lens Choice/one only … open but no zooms and also the only lens you can use for leisure (non pro) photography for the stated period.

Film/Memory Card Usage … as much as you want as often as you want.

Flash Usage … yes.

Cropping … mild cropping is ok but not landscape to portrait or vice versa.

Subject Material … portraits/landscapes/street whatever you want within reason.

Images To Be Submitted … three maximum, less if you think you’re that good you can win this thing with one.

The gallery for hosting your input will be closed on the 14th January at midnight … this allows you two weeks to get yourself organised after the 14 day shooting period ends and get your files/submissions uploaded. If you don’t think you can manage this, don’t partake!

A judging system for this competition is yet to be decided … I’m open to suggestions but I favour a small panel of judges made up of respected experienced forum members with suitable qualifications. Volunteers for this arduous task would receive my eternal gratitude … but not much else! Stephen has suggested just using the system of members voting for their favourites in the gallery.

The winner/winners will receive the plaudits and constant admiration of fellow forum members for some time to come … but in reality, little else! We are just here for the fun of it after all. 🙂

I'm in, sounds like good fun. I organized a San Francisco "One Challenge" a few years back and it was a great time.

I look forward to seeing everyones creative work 🙂

I'm in, too. With my Contax going off to Eddie, it's going to be SLR time. Canon T90 w/ a nice old FD 50/1.4 lens... let's make a virtue out of a necessity! 😀

@keith - hope so!! still trying to figure out how i managed to completely mangle my last roll of provia. looks like it was already exposed before going into the camera. the other rolls came out fine...so definitely a user error on my part.

This is going to encourage some weird choices I supect. At the moment I'm torn between my Crown Graphic with the stock 135mm lens, 1930 Leica 1a with fixed f3.5 5cm Elmar and my Kiev II and Jupiter 3.

Choosing my Ikon and 50mm Hex would just seem ilogically seamless! 😛

I hear you. With the Contax broken, I thought about several of them (Graphic & Contaflex especially) but I wanted to at least have a nice meter available for the family snappies over Christmass along with the project shots. So the Tank is it for me. (But if I owned that Leica, I'd probably go with it 😉 )

Last time I used the 1930 1a I broke it which required a trip to Youxin ... who I might mention chastised me for using such a beautiful camera so casually. He loves 1a's and has one himself and pointed out to me that mine was in far nicer condition than his and maybe I should consider being a little more judicious with my use of it in future!

That said it is the hot favourite at the moment. 🙂

I walked into a camera store today and fondled a Bronica SQ. Looking down into that waist level finder & thinking about those nice 6x6 negs! I want that camera bad. I think! By the 14th would be nice. But I have to think rational. I'm in.... but what to use?🙄

I'm in. Having been a participant in the One Camera, One Lens, One Film Challenge organized by Kent 3 years ago, I feel like a veteran going into battle. I've got a new to me 35mm Summilux that will work nicely. This should be fun.

Ok, I need to bond with my Bessa T and Voigtländer Collapsible Heliar 50mm f3.5...

We seem to be at loggerheads at the moment, so 14 days of forced togetherness should either be the making or breaking of the relationship...
