From multiple articles around the net it appears Apple is finally updating the Mac Mini, with release in the next few months. The good news is this is expected to be a real upgrade to suit the professional server market, though at this stage it's rumour territory only. Yet to be divulged is user-upgrade potential (RAM, graphics, SSD) and connectivity options.

I've been using the Mini for many years, with maxed-out RAM. It's always been rock solid dependable, running LR4 and CS6.

It would be helpful. Since 2012 the Mini has been hobbled by being available with only two cores, and is much slower than more powerful machines, even with basic photo editing. Not everyone wants Apple's choice of screen, or the cost of the trash-can Mac Pro. I am still working with a 2012 quad-core Mini and an Eizo screen, but it overheats when I work it hard, even when the room temperature is low in winter. A Mini with more cores, a lot of RAM and better cooling would be great. I'm not getting my hopes up too much yet.
