21mm viewfinder lens cap hack.

I recently made another lens cap for my Contax G 21mm accessory view finder (having lost the first one I made 3 years ago).

I use the cap of a film canister. The TriX 400 one works best.
All you need to do is to cut off some of the inner edge with a knife.

Here are some pics. Let me know if you guys have a better idea how to protect the viewfinder from scratching.

I have done something similar to protect the rear of my J-8 and my 90/4 Elmar. I trimmed the inner lip from the film cannister lid and some of the ribs from the outer lip and it fits snugly over the focusing cam. I haven't had one fall off in the bag yet, and they do a fine job of protecting the rear element from dust.
