Hi .
I have seen a silver 24mm ''snapshot '' lense in Leica screw, which seems really compact and dee-lightfulll on my M 8 - but not rangefinder coupled ... this would be a useable , for me , 32mm on the M 8 with the same d.o.f , which should care for the focusing inaccuracy .

i liked the thought of learning just to set the approx distance , which should help in using other lenses .

Does anyone know anything about this lense , which I can buy mint from a trusted dealer for £ 175 ?

Snapshot excellent

Snapshot excellent

Hello:

The CV 24mm Snapshot is a very good lens and I find it a natural on a 111b LTM Leica. Never had any reservations in using it. However I've no experience of it on a M8.

A M - mount version, rangefinder coupled, is also available from Cameraquest.

Dee, I don't know about the price but I use a SLR 28mm on my IIIf and just scale focus. You don't shot at wide open, but it sure works fine. People are always asking 'what is that?' Here is a picture of it, it looks and is top heavy:

How can an SLR lense work on a rangefinder ? My zenit 39mm lenses will not ?

A) By using something like one of these - http://www.srb-griturn.com/other-lenses-on-leica-m39-rangefinder-236-p.asp
B) They would with something like one of those 🙂

The Snapshot Skopar is an excellent lens. Many pictures in my gallery were made with it, the only problem being that the DOF markings are perhaps a little generous.

Cheers, Ian

If you were wanting a Voigtlander 25mm f4 for an M8 I would recommend getting the later M Mount version that is rangefinder coupled.

Hi you could also try an extension tube for the SLR the are usually three rings, try the middle one. It worked with a Mir 37 mm even wide open.....but it looks rather strange and cumbersome
