Just two days ago I bought CV 25/4 and today that plasticy viewfinder took a hit and that part that mounts to the camera is now broken -- can't fix it with glue...

So, no more plastic viewfinders for me. What are my options now? That Zeiss viewfinder was horribly expensive... Do some of you use 28mm frames (M6) with 25mm lens?

I've heard of other people replacing the plastic foot with metal.

The problem I've had with the 25mm CV finder is that it has twice gone off level ... the frame lines are etched on a circular piece of glass that has, for me anyway, had a tendency to tilt during ordinary knocking around inside a camera bag.

I then have to diassemble the finder, eyeball it until its level again, and then screw it back together as tightly as possible. If it happens a third time, I may have to devise some kind of tension shim to better hold it in place.

???? My 25mm CV finder has no frame lines. Are there different ones?

I dropped mine last fall thanks to the smooth & rounded surface making a secure grip difficult in cold weather. Only the foot broke, & I tried to replace it with an old flash foot, which is made of far more robust, durable plastic. The VF is made of two pieces; the foot is part of the lower one, & I tried to replace that with the flash foot. The viewfinder body, however, is sloped, whereas the flash foot is flat. I’ve now almost matched the two, but I’m not sure it’ll work when I get it all back together. I don’t do well with repairs. I’ve bought a replacement in the meantime, & may glue strips of velcro onto it. Given the number of similar stories, I’d like to see Voigtländer make a replacement for the bottom piece readily available; it’s annoying to have to buy a new viewfinder when only the foot is broken.
