Hey gang!

Ive been shooting a V3 Elmarit for a little while now, really like the photo's ive been getting with it. Optically, its all I could ever need.

As you all may know, the V3 is the largest of the 28 Elmarit M's with a E49 filter size.

And that's where my question arises,

Im looking for a more compact alternative, I had originally been looking at the Rokkor-M 28, but opted on the V3 after I discovered the Rokkor I was looking at had some fungus. I obviously spent more on the Elmarit.

How do the two compare?
Has anyone owned both, which did you prefer?
If the Rokkor, why?

Any other options to consider in the same price point with the Rokkor? (withholding the VC Ultrons or slower f3.5- lenses)

Im not overly concerned with the technicalities, just looking for a bit of chatter.

I have both the Rokkor 28 and the 28 Elmarit V3 and the Ultron 2.0. My Rokkor has the dreaded white dots and looks like I'm shooting in a fog. I never bonded with the Ultron. On the other hand, I love the Elmarit V3. It is the lens that showed me what 28mm could do. I use it mostly on an M2 with a 28mm Finder.

If you shoot film, I wouldn't overlook the f3.5 C/V Skopar, it is very, very good. If you shoot digitally, I don't think you will find a better alternative at your price point than your v3.
