I saw this lens at an auction in great condition. When I looked it up on the web, all the other samples said "Canon Camera Co." whereas this one just said "Canon". Were they labeled in both ways or is this perhaps a fake?
A screw mount lens can be adapted to M-mount with the focal length appropriate Leitz, Voigtlander or even a Chinese made adaptor. This probably has such an adaptor attached. The lenses came with both manufacturer names.

If its "M-mount" there's no "probably" about it, it would have to have such an adapter attached 😉
I suspect the OP searched for "Canon 28mm f2.8 M-mount" so didn't get many hits, whereas searching for "Canon 28mm f2.8 LTM" would have answered the OP's question pretty quickly.

Looking at Peter K's book, Canon made three different trim rings for this lens,
He called them type 1, 2 and 3. All say something a little different. As already mentioned, all are LTM.
Thanks everyone. I clearly didn't inspect the lens close enough and didn't really see there was an adapter. The pic posted by Jonmanjiro is exactly what I saw.
