'scuse me while I take notes: ad sez "black", "rare", "Summicron Killer", "35/1.8 lens" uh, huh... Think I'll sell mine and get me that Leica! Geez!

Crazy:eek:. But some people have a oil field.:)

I like your "Holy friggin' Toledo, Batman!!!", well used. Good for the one who knows that a Konica S3 is excellent as well. Saw one go for $30, these days.

To put the Electro 35 CC/CCN in perspective, if you want to buy a NEW 35 Rangefinder with built in meter and faster than 35/2 lens, your ONLY choice today is the $2000 plus Leica M6 body and the $2500 plus 35/1.4 Aspherical Summilux.

An M6? New? I think this guy is about 20 years too late.

D'ya think he ever heard of Voigtlander? Or the Zeiss Ikon? I don't.

Weird. I actually use the CC as my beater! I roller blade with the friggin' thing and take it on the beach! I does take nice sharp pics though. The lens on that thing is quite a capable performer, but still.

He aped that entire section from CameraQuest.

Nick, it is the people that can not wait or are not able to compare value or do not read RFF. I hate sellers who use others words. But you are right. Offer your CC for $280 and be happy if somebody buys. BTW I bought my avatar Yashica 35 for $10. Beside some little scratches on the front element the camera is in fine condition. I did the Cla and leather job myself. Leather and "glue" was another $3. Lens is 4.5cm 1:1.9. It is my cheap Nikon SP and waits for a testrun.

Wow and two plus hours to go,makes me really like my $38.00 lynx.

ISO - is that the YL? Love the looks of that thing. Yashica's first fixed lens, as I recall. How's it as a shooter?

ISO, that's really neat, I almost thought it has the little focusing wheel like the real Contax/Kiev/Nikon RFs.

As for the mega-inflated price of the CC, some people just don't know what to do with their money...

Well, it went for $305. The seller should give a commission to CameraQuest.

I have both the CC and the auto S3. Don't get me wrong, the CC is a great, well finished compact rangefinder - very nice little street shooter, with a very good lens. I prefer the Auto S3, though. The CC has some vices - 1/250 top shutter speed, 1/30 flash sync speed - no way to reset it. Very good camera but $305?!? It did have the Yashica lens hood, which I'm sure is rare.

I think $300 is a fair price for the CC. And, Nick, you are right. The Konica S3 is such a nice camera, it should easily fetch $400 and would still be a bargain, if somebody is interested to buy the camera. I am sure you could offer the CC and S3 in a package for around $650. That would still be an amazing price for the buyer! Or the Yahica GX is also a nice RF camera. One say it is the best fixed RF street-shooter. I have a cla´d black one here and think about selling it for $450. (now, where could I steal a good description of this camera, :.) "Holy friggin' Toledo, Batman!!!"...

yeah, it's a great camera...but not 300 bucks great! I had one that I sold for 40, where were these bidders then?

Todd

Yeah, a couple month ago you could buy them cheap. But now there was this price- explosion, because these camera are very limited great tools and more and more people know about that. You can be lucky, if you get back a CC for $250 now.:):):)

How much is a Minolta CLE by the way?

The only CLE I saw up is asking around $900 "buy now". I wouldn't touch that one because it seems it didn't age especially well. The CC lesson is pretty funny illustration of how people get sucked in to lens specs. "35/1.8" oooh, ahhhh... Meanwhile, the difference between the 38mm focal length on the Konica S3 is barely noticeable. I know, I've held both cameras to my eye to note the difference. I like the CC but it's not without its vices. The "over" light seems to go off outdoors with 400 speed film because of the top 1/250 shutter speed, so it's either slow film or an ND filter or cheat the lens and shoot at f16 instead of more optimal apertures - 11, 8. The ND filter has to be taken off indoors. The top ASA on the camera is 500 so the camera begs for higher speed film for available darkness - no can do. I do take advantage of a leaf shutter's ability to sync at all speeds, which is why I like the fixed lens RFs so much, but Yashica took that capability away with the CC. It doesn't have a hot shoe so you got the PC sync wire annoyance. Kinda strange camera, which is why its my beater. The lens is terrific though, and it's cool looking in black and solidly built. Since it is my beater I tend to use it more than most of my others, ironically.

Now I'm thinking about selling my CC. $300 buys a lot of camera - Canon 7? Take a nice chunk out of the cost of a decent "P" or a Bessa perhaps?

I saw this camera on the bay when the bid was less than $50.00. I have noticed lately that all things photographic is bringing in higher prices. Even the FSU stuff to me it seems is getting more expensive. I have a ql-17 and a year ago I paid around $75.00 for the camera, flash, new batt. claed from a casmera store at that. Now a claed Ql 17 is many times going at over $100 bucks.

I watch a lot of auctions. I have a short list of cameras I wouldn't mind owning and look for bargains. My list includes a T3, a T4, a 70's serial number Kiev 4a, a Contax IIa, one of the Canons - lots of other stuff.

I've never sold on eBay - too lazy, but participated in enough auctions. The key with cameras is the phrase "working, film-tested" then extol the virtues of that camera. It's all about the ad. The CC I bought for $36 had a terrible ad. "AS-IS! Bid Accordingly", "Don't know anything about cameras", "Not sure if it works", "ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS"... etc.

The price was low enough that I took a chance and got lucky with an absolutey perfect sample - even the case. If the seller simply ran a roll of film through it or stuck a battery in it, they could have gotten a lot more... hundreds more, possibly.

Prices for many of the most desirable 1970's fixed-lens compact 35mm
rangefinder cameras have been going through the roof lately.

When I saw a clean 35CC priced under $100 at a dealer I jumped on it.
The same goes for the Minolta 7sII I picked up in the RFF classifieds.
I figured now is my last chance to try out these models at a reasonable price.

The good news is that 35mm SLR camera prices are at all-time lows... :)
