35 summilux pre-asph

Never liked my 35 summicron asph.
Now i have a chance to buy a like new 35 summilux pre-asph (titan version) i seriously consider buying it and selling the cron.
I hope for more realistic contrast .. i shoot B&W on a R-d1 98%.
Some say the pre-asph is soft wide open. But the same is said about the 50 lux pre-asph .. but in my opinion that's not true at all unless you shoot in really dim conditions. It's one of my favourites: especially wide open.
Is this the same with the 35 summilux pre-asph ... ? Sharp enough wide open in good light?
HOw is contrast stopped down compared to the cron asph?

Any comments/ suggestions abou the 35 summilux pre-asph are welcome.

Hi Han,

The 35 Summilux pre-asph is a very good lens. It does suffer coma at wide open at the edges but other than that it sharp and has the summilux character. One of my favourite lenses. Compact and great handling. The titanium one has become a collectors item so it is pricey if mint.
By the way, I wouldnt sell the 35 Summicron Asph if I can help it 🙂

I have an older 35 Lux pre asph. that uses series filters. I can't comment on how it performs wide open as I have had no need to use it that way. Stopped down the lens is as sharp as I need it to be and it's small size make it a joy to carry. There are some examples in my gallery of photos taken with this lens if that helps.
