Where can this viewfinder be found? The one on the Sony RX-1:

I've googled, and have found 18, 21, and 25/28. Maybe I'm not doing a better search.

Yes, there is a 35mm finder - you are looking at it, and it was produced specifically for the Sony RX1 35mm fixed lens camera.

Zeiss never (near as I can tell) produced a 35mm finder for the Zeiss Ikon line, which is logical. They produced finders for wider lenses that the Zeiss Ikon rangefinder camera did not have built in frame lines for. The camera of course has 35mm framelines.

At this point the only source of this finder is Sony and presumably because of this you can expect to pay more for it.

They'll be available starting early to mid December and will cost a whopping $599, far more than the Zeiss Ikon optical finders can be purchased new or used today.

As the Zeiss Ikon already has 35mm frame line, Cosina didn't produce a 35mm external finder for the ZM line.

However judging from the exterior and marking style, this 35mm finder (like the Ricoh GV-1 and some Konica finders) comes most likely from Cosina factories as well as a special order, and probably offers similar excellent optical performance to its siblings. That explains the pricing a bit too.

The price is $200 more than any comparable ZI viewfinder (using in-stock retail prices at B&H as a guide).

Personally I think the price Sony is asking for both the optical and electronic finder (also $200 more than NEX EVFs at retail) for the RX1 is a bit crazy.
