Yesterday, I picked up a strange Nikon lens cap at a flea market. It is chrome, and has the "Nippon Kogaku Tokyo" logo on it, but it was not the 48mm version I thought I had finally found for my chrome 85 f2. It is a push-on cap, with the usual black felt ring, but the inside diameter is 47mm. What would this be for?

Cheers,

I have two very unusual Nikon 50mm f1.4 lenses with 46mm threads the normal thread size is 43mm I am wondering if this is the cap for these lenses ????

Mysterious lens cap.

Mysterious lens cap.

That must be it. I have seen pictures of a late, larger diameter 50 f1.4 lens for the S cameras. Do you perchance need a lens cap and want to trade something for it?
