hello.

the bit that the filter screws onto, the bit that says nokton voigtlander etc moves around. the glass doesnt seem to.

is that normal? i wouldnt have noticed if i hadnt rattled it by accident. it rotates a small amount and lifts a tiny amount.

on a probably unrelated note i took several pictures of mostly black and the black is not uniform, there are two fairly coherent downward smears (about 1cm wide at 5x8') and some circles, all with nice edges - i thought dirt or grease would create a less obvious more blurred effect , alas i cant scan them and it isnt visible normally. could it be dirt?

thanks

if i didn't misunerstand your post, i will tell you that nothing will move when screwing a filter onto the lens (50/1.5).

Please post a photo about your problem regarding "there are two fairly coherent downward smears", thanks!

I don't have anything like those issues with my Nokton. It's mechanically fine...not a Leica or Canon mechanically, but OK.

On the other hand, I've had weird mechanical issues with supposedly decent quality new filters (Tiffen)...which seem not to fit the way they're supposed to, and don't accept lens hoods properly...forcing $ for B+H etc.

what i actually meant was the bit the Lens Hood screws onto.

also i noticed that if i point the camera up and then down something moves inside the lens.

it sounds like metal and i cant see it through the lens.

it sounds like it moves about a cm or so , up and down, up and down the same path.

should i throw it away, try to get it repaired, keep using it because it wont fall into pieces?
