I wish have a dream lens for my barnaks and use also with M
Someone can think about changing lens mount to a ltm one?
I have had the 7artisan only for few minutes in my hand and I can’t remember if a such thing could be possible without a large machine job.
There are other people like me interested in this mod?

0. Buy LTM flange (eBay, or molest some LTM lens for the flange part)
1. Unscrew M flange
2. Drill 6 holes in the LTM flange
3. Machine *exactly* 1mm away from the rear part of the lens housing
4. mount LTM flange
5. look in awe at your 7artisans lens with LTM mount

(it probably will work mechanically, but your rangefinder "light inlet window" will be blocked I think, so not enough light will be let in to see your focus patch)

Like every other M mount lens, the 7A is designed to sit one millimeter closer to the plane of focus than an LTM lens.

There are some SLR lenses that can be adapted to work on bodies that require a closer mount than the lens is designed for, but those adapters require additional glass to modify the image as it comes from the lens. That one millimeter difference does not allow for such an adapter.

Any such modification for the 7A lens would require some serious machining of the lens mount.

You might want to look into a Canon 1.2/50 instead.

Thing is all 7A lenses let you adjust the rf ramp so one may be able to account for that. But it would be a real pain to tune correct focus because the backs do not come off Barnacks, so you can't see what is happening on the film plane.

Of course after your LTM conversion, you could just put on an LTM-M adapter, and tune the focus on a digi Leica M.

It is a fat lens, and as someone else may have mentioned, may block one of the RF windows so even if it was converted it may not be able to be focussed.

Is that the one that is often hazy?

It is inclined to develop haze but the haze does not seem to be irredeemable as it does with some lenses. However having cleaned it, the haze can return from time to time. Having said this cleaning haze from this lens is about as simple as it gets. Its the work of 20-30 minutes to disassemble, clean and reassemble. It's a good lens and pleasant to use.

ltm lenses are becoming scarce, at least good ones and in good condition. Prices driven way up especially in certain focal lengths.

Somebody needs to make LTM lenses that make sense.
