:bang: My Russian Biogon 85mm f2 [Jupiter9?] has always been a bit sticky to focus. I guess the yak fat has solidified evenmore. At least, the focus seems to have gone. It now slips. Any suggestions on whom to send for repair? Oleg? Fedka? Essex?, please advise PM here or jerobe00@peoplepc.com

Love the lens!

Sonnar, not Biogon :)

Oleg and Fedka should be ceratinly able to service them. If it's a Kiev version, you can find instructions on re-lubing at Kiev Survival Site. Following those, I've done it with my lens and it wasn't too hard.

Varjag:
Thanks for the info on name. I stand corrected. Appreciate your input. I have dealt with Oleg before and have absolute confidence in his ability; however, postage might be a factor here.
Thanks again, however, not a Kiev and I am a klutz at repairs.

Lens went to Fedka on 23Dec06 and returned 2Feb07. Looks good; feels good. Running a roll through now. Yuri is a pleasure to do business with. My compliments.

I haven't had him do any repair work, but I will second the idea that Yuri is great to deal with. I bought Kiev 4a (meterless version) from him some time ago. In the process of completing the sale, he e-mailed me and said that the lens on the camera had "slight cleaning marks", so he was throwing in a (I can't read Russian and at the moment I forget the English name) -103. The camera soon arrived with BOTH lenses. I can't complain about that.

About that name: If those Russkis would write so the rest of us could read it, I'd have the name - is it Zenith? Anyway, it's (Brand)-103.

I also have a Zorki-3 that I bought through evil-bay, and it came with an instruction book. But I can't read it -- guess why?

Helios-103. It's a great lens. I prefer it to the Jupiter-8m.
