85mm Lumifield with parallax lever....do they exist?

Sorry I didn't realise it was small or maybe it is because I compile the letter in outlook express (Spellcheck) and copy paste it into the reply box...hummm

Yep that is the problem.

No spell-check in box above and if there is I need to get some specs or at least an update.😱

Peter, second message came through normal size. The pasteup was the problem with size. I've never seen one of the units, live or on eBay. In fact, aren't the 85's a scarce beast, anyway?

An old 1968 Bell & Howell cataolgue I have lists a 85mm Lumifield manual parallax viewfinder as available for the Canon 7 series cameras (which I assume means Canon 7s) but shows no picture. Hooper, in his mid 1990's Canon series in the Leica journal, implies that Canon made such a finder, but, again, shows no picture.

Just checked my B&H 68 Price list and your spot on Jim, they do exist. BUT as of yet I have not seen one. The manual parallax 100mm vf was also issued as the same time as this 85mm, although I have seen the 100mm vf with manual parallax lever. I think the reason why these two items are so rare is that the model 7 series cameras already had an internal 85mm brightline frame in the viewfinder so a buyer who purchased an 85mm f/1.5 or f/1.8 lens (or 100mm lens/es) didn't need the finder/s. These 85mm lenses were expensive in there days and if I was a buyer back in the 60s I would opt for the 100mm f/2 lens for that extra length even though the selling price was the same. Anybody updating from an earlier V series camera who owned an 85mm lens would already have an automatic finder with a nipple in the base and all they would have to do is purchase a Finder Coupler..............job done Peter K

In case it makes you feel any better, you don't KNOW that you missed it by 50 cents... for all you know, the winning bidder might have been willing to pay $500 for the thing, and would have kept upping the bid. (Maybe he wants it to use on the "Kwanon D" he just bought...)

the winning bidder, 7sZ is from Australia. Is the winner Peter K? If so, he found what he has been looking for. I agree with the earlier poster that I this is the first one I have seen in my 2+ years of eBay.

Nikonians wisdom said the Kwanon went to Europe, not Australia, and probably hasn't enough money left.
What I'm concerned, for 500 USD I would either buy a 2/100 lens perfectly fitting to my Canon P's frameline, or a nice VI/L plus auto-parallax finder to use it with my 1.8/85. That's why I'm not a hardcore collector.. 😱

Here are both 85mm lumifield finders - the "automatic" for use with the V/VI/L series exclusively, and with parallax lever, for use with Canon P as well as all other RF cameras. Sorry, both missing some black color, but are very bright and clear to use.

As for the 50mm, for some reason, they seem to be as expensive as Leica's SBOOI. Probably because it was at the time when it was sold all Canon RF's had great 50mm frameline finders and it was only usefull with older cameras, or as a accessory for the 50/0.95.
