HAHHAHAA, yea the banding sucks. I found banding in most of my images tonight. This thing will be going back if they don't announce a real solution within two weeks. I guess I will buy a RD-1 or a Bessa and load it with high iso film if that is the case :-( . Sad because I Like this camera.

strange that #2 has banding, but #3 doesn't. Make sure you know your return policy, don't wait too long. #1 is my fav.

It seems to be limited to overexposure of point sources of light. I was looking this morning and it wasn't just gas discharge lights either. Regular incandescents drove it mad. IMHO that renders this camera unacceptable. I reviewed the return policy and I don't have the 14 days that leica asked for. So I suppose it goes back today :-( .

I understood that the banding issue is more apparent on high ISO settings - what was your ISO setting on No. 2, please?

Banding, shmanding; I'm going to Nashville tomorrow for two weeks to visit my daughter and really enjoyed your pictures. It shows that in spite of some technical faults the ability of the photographer to capture the essence of a location shines through. If the bading wasn't mentioned I wouldn't have noticed it.

All of these were at iso 1250 except for the hat picture. Kurt, why dont we get together for a little street shooting stroll?

I will be in Nashville with my wife from tomorrow through the 29th. My daughter is moving from the outskirts of Nashville to somewhere near downtown and we are going to help her move as well as spend Thanksgiving with her. I have never been in Nashville before and my greatest fear is getting lost in the car I intend to rent. If you e-mail me your phone number (vitelio@aol.com) I will try to give you a call as I do not know my schedule right now. We will be staying in her apartment as the house she has just bought is being renovated and is not ready for occupancy yet. If we can get together that would be great.

Well, I just got off the phone with Leica and they couldnt tell me that I wouldnt have to have each lens wear the stupid IR filter. I wanted some assurance that the banding issue would be resolved without external gimmicks and he couldnt assure me of that either. I suppose I will be sending this thing back in the morning which is unfortunate :-(

I'm still mulling it around. I just don't have a lot of confidence in Leica at this point. I don't want to wear the stupid infrared filters. The banding is the big one for me. The other things I could live with.
