Hi everyone

I was looking at some photo books yesterday in a librairy and I found a great one but too expansive (48 euros) as it was not an obvious purchase for me.

But the writer of the book is also publishing a great web site :

http://www.arnaudfrichphoto.com/
You'll find there some examples of his work and many good technical tips (how to configure color rendering on a screen or scanner by instance).

Sorry for non french speakers, anyway you can still look at his beautiful gallery :

http://www.arnaudfrichphoto.com/galerie_photo.htm#sommaire

on this one :

http://www.arnaudfrichphoto.com/notre-dame_de_paris_pluie_7.htm

this guy staied 1,5 hour under the rain with his noblex. I stil wonder how it s possible to have a 1,5 hour exposition, maybe with a very slow film and a big aperture, over 16. Then which lightmeter could work for such a long exposition !

Anyway, I'm looking forward to receive my Heliar 15 / 4.5 bought from ebay yesterday.

Cheers, Laurent :D

it looks like that with a noblex or rotative lens camera, a 1 minute expostion can take 1 real hour with the lens rotating several times.

Dank U wel Pherdinand,
and Mr Frich is also speaking about XPan camera : features, angle of view...

tot zins, Laurent

Awesome website. Thanks for the link mate!

Laurent , did he mention if he used slides or negatives? He's given me some good inspiration!

Alvin

Hello there Alvin! Welcome to the forum. Wait a minute! A fellow countryman too! :)

Hi

according to the web site, Mr Frich is using some slides :

Fuji Provia 100 F

He tried in the past Fuji Velvia & Kodak Ektachrome 100 S but remains now on "Fuji Provia 100 F".

It makes me wanna try one of those fuji.

Hi!!!!!
Peter, do you happen to frequent clubsnap? I hang out there in their MF/RF forums. Perhaps we can go shoot together :)

Laurent, thanks! Perhaps I'll re-try provia again. I am wondering how he got the shots so warm, perhaps with a 81 filter of sorts. mine came back very cool, but I didn't shoot provia that much.

Thanks!

Alvin

Hi Alvin,

Must go out and shoot as you suggested. Where do you usually hang out? I used to be at clubsnap but not that often anymore as the RF are rather quiet nowadays.

Regards,
Peter

Peter, yes, I agree. The RF forums at clubsnap are rather quiet. I'm guessing its because there isn't much new stuff available, unlike the canon forums where non-stop discussion is going on. I'm truly sad that most newbies have directly went to digital without at least trying out a roll of slides or B&W. These two are the key reasons why I'm still on film.

I don't have places I usually hang out, but I'm partial to architectural photography and just walk the streets to take pics of buildings =)

Alvin

I am under the impression that CS is into nature and macro nowadays. It also has a very strong digital presence. It is a shame that young people just bypass film photography. I am certain they will go back after the digital novelty dies. You like buildings? I am into people and documentary these days. Do you want to post some of your work here?

I too sincerely hope so! Nothing beats the kick of a good slide under a loupe... Yes, I am fond of reading architectural photography books in the library, but unfortunately, I have no idea where to find similar places in Singapore, and I can't travel abroad just for that!

If you are interested in some of my shots, you may wish to visit this link and this link - you'll need to scroll down to the bottom to the "gallery" :)

BTW, I see you shoot nearly exclusively in black and white?

Alvin

PS: Sorry for hi-jacking your thread, Laurent!
