Has anyone here made some experience with it?
As there's a lot of good Kiev/Contax glass around it sounds intriguing....
But how's focus wide openat close distance do those adapters provide RF coupling?
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences

I have lost my Contax - Leica LTM adaptor.

From what I remember it was made by Cook and Perkins. It worked on 50mm lenses only and coupled to the Leica r/f.

Since the focussing mount for the 50mm lens on a traditional Contax is part of the camera, it was little more than a Leica focussing mount with the usual r/f gubbins.

From what I remember the wider and longer lenses make use of the Contax outer bayonet mount and do not use the cameras helical, having helicals of their own. I have not seen an adaptor for these, let alone one that will couple to the Leica RF.

Much of the point of the Zeiss Contax lenses lies in their excellent wide open properties so accuracy of any adaptor is critical.

Thanks Michael!
There is a guy named Amedeo on *bay who also makes them for Kiev/Contax or Nikin RF.
Thanks for providing the most important info. I will ask him anyhow if it would be possible also to use other lenses!
Best regards

Amedeo makes a great adapter, but lenses that have large and/or deep rear elements won't work (usually these are the wide angles.) In that case he makes an uncoupled adapter.

I have a Nikon to M adapter made from a Nikon focus helicoid by Amedeo. It works great with internal mount 50s and external mount lenses that will mount. Here's what it looks like mounted on a Zeiss Ikon body.

Here's some shots taken with the combo pictured above! Taken at f2 and close distance. It's RF coupled and there's no problems with focus accuracy!

Here's a shot taken with an S-mount Nikkor-P 8.5cm f2 mounted on the Zeiss Ikon via the adapter. Taken at f2.8 and 1.5m from memory.

At the moment, I believe he is only selling adapters on eBay. I'd asked him to sell me one privately, but he just isn't making them fast enough to do business this way. He seems to be a very nice guy!

Here's some more test shots taken with a Millennium Nikkor-S 50mm f1.4 lens on a Zeiss Ikon body using an Amedeo adapter and scanned with a Coolscan 5000 at full resolution. The Millennium Nikkor is a killer lens in "M" mount 🙂

Great shots jonmanjiro!...Why does everyone in a crop look like a criminal or a terrorist?

yes they do look like criminals or terrorists when you crop.
it is the enhanced grain of the film that harks back to surveillance photos taken on fast film that has been pushed for low light shots with telephoto lenses.
this gives me an idea for a photo project.
