Evening all - it's a dark autumn evening in England, with lots of rain and wind. Our clocks have just gone to winter time so as a little diversion I have been seeking out interesting pictures to inspire when there is more light.
Here's a collection of Soviet era photography that I really liked (can't afford the prices though!)

Very nice indeed, and would sit very well in a collection.
Thank you.
Are you familiar with the work of Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii?
There's a description and some photos at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Mikhailovich_Prokudin-Gorskii
Edit: The clocks went back in Portugal today also. The light was wonderful, and I went out at dusk just to see the light fade and get some photo inspiration. Shirt sleeve weather here!
Thank you.

Thanks Jon - I have seen those wonderful colour pictures before. Look like they were taken yesterday.
Shirtsleeves eh? I'm wearing shirtsleeves somewhere under the three t-shirts and the raincoat!

Thanks for the Link. Imagine!... these were done some 80 years ago. They are fine art and documentaries... at the same time.

Here's another treasure:

In the chapter on space flight there is a picture featuring someone using a FED or Zorki 1 to photograph a landing.

I'm afraid I waste my time on the internet!
Thanks again friends. I bought a copy of "Propaganda" and it is stunning.

A glimpse to another culture history never failed to astound me.
That's probably why I am attracted to the FSU cameras and lenses.
Thanks for the link to the wonderful photos, Donald.

Thanks for the links! I just bought a copy of Propaganda as well. It'll take 4 to 6 weeks to be delivered from the UK... something to look forward to.

That is their code speak for they don't have it and don't know when or if they'll get it.

I'm in Massachusetts, so I can imagine it taking a little while. I bought it via Alibris, so there usually is some lead time involved since they are essentially book brokers. I think by definition they don't have much in the way of in-house stock... they have a network of sellers they work with. In any case, I couldn't find a U.S. dealer that had it.
