I wondered if anyone had come across a movie in which a Kiev 4 plays a central part?

The film in question is a 1981 North Korean romp entitled "Notes of a War Correspondent", the latter being a Kiev-wielding lass played by O Mi Ran. I quote the synopsis from "Korean Film Art" (Pyongyang, 1985):

"During military training one day the seamen of the Korean People's Army find the notes of a war correspondent and camera and films in an enemy patrol boat sunk during the Fatherland Liberation War. The notes found in a closed steel case belong to female reporter Hye Gyong of the People's Army Newspaper Office who leaves the base early in June 1951 aboard a minelayer together with the seamen whose order is to lay mines in Marine Zone No. 56 and never to return [great orders!]. The film which is based on these notes deals with the moving story of of heroic exploits of Korean People's Army which have been unknown for 30 years. It shows the scene of fierce battle for laying mines in Marine Zone No. 56, the scene of fight in difficult conditions on a desert island, the battle to blow up the enemy's secret detecting device installed underground on Waksae Island, heroic death of the leading characters who destroy enemy ship in Marine Zone No.56 on their way back from a victorious battle".

The accompanying stills show the lovely Miss Ran, a single, most becoming, smudge along her perfect cheekbone, snapping away with her Kiev as the male leads become heroically ragged! In real life she became Kim Jong-Il's girlfriend and is a big star in North Korea!
