For the past couple of years I have been reading a magazine called The Sun. Here's a link to it's website

http://www.thesunmagazine.org/

Not sure where I discovered it. Perhaps I saw one in a coffee house somewhere. The writing is very, very good and there are no advertisements. The best thing about it though are the wonderful B&W photographs that are in each issue. They've made me seriously rethink my photography goals. The shots are seldom ultra sharp, there's no hint of a Leica or Zeiss signature, yet they convey a mood or feeling that is missing in nearly all of today's photography. As far as I know they are all w/ film, though I don't think their submissions policy specifically calls for that.

So, I thought I would throw it out there for anyone that is interested. Their web site is not that easy to navigate. You can usually see a small version of the magazine's printed photos by clicking on the stories links, but you really need to pick up a magazine to see them properly. They offer a free trial, so it wouldn't cost anything to get one of their mags and see if it appeals to you. Seeing a new edition magically show up in our mailbox each month is a special occasion, and the wife and I often impatiently wait for the other to finish an article so we can both read it and discuss it. I'd buy it just for the photos.
