I was out shooting with my M7 yesterday and after advancing the film "mid" roll the shutter wouldn't fire! Arrgh panic,!!! Visions of sending it off to Dag etc... after rewinding the film I realized I had a 24 exposure roll (which I almost never use) in the camera. Phew,

Did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Before rewinding the film and popping it out into my hand, I was convinced that I bricked the camera.

Down in Houston last year out shooting, and I couldn't rewind at the end of the roll. Crank just kept spinning and spinning. Camera fault? Did the film come loose from the spool? Either way, rest of the day's shooting was, well, shot.
I'm not one of those very dedicated people that brings a whole darkroom kit and changing bag with them traveling, so when I got back to my room, I tucked the whole thing under a bathrobe with all the lights off, sweating profusely, trying to rewind the roll by hand.
Turned out the lug in the core of the spool got sheared off. My guess is i tried to advance the film with the crank lever out at some point (M5, so ratcheted crank). Big sigh.

Just did that last week with my M-A. I had one 24 exp roll of Delta 100 that I found in the fridge amongst the hundreds of rolls of 36exp film I always shoot with.
Thought my camera had jammed.. then remembered it was only a 24exp roll. Jeesh..

Of course i did. that's why I freaked. I had no idea I had popped in a 24 count roll. It's perhaps one of two I have in a freezer full of film.

Hahaha, that's hilarious. I haven't had that experience, but I'll be wary if a roll seems to jam prematurely. I do have a few 24exp rolls lying around.

I’ve done that too. I had some straggler rolls of 24 from when I first started and I always forget they only have 24. First time it happened I was SURE I destroyed the camera somehow. Lol.

When I look through the M7 viewfinder and there is no metering. Takes a few seconds for the brain to realize I have to cock the shutter to turn the meter on.
