What do you guys think of something like this?
It's just a quick and dirty cut & paste job, so disregard the technical quality issues for now.
Obviously, no RF was used for this idea (so far), but i think of working on it.

Actually, it's kinda cool, reminds me of the film kiosk a la "Amelie" or the local Woolworth store (yeah, I'm aging). I like the series, too.

The curtain background and TV lighting are a nice bit.

I liked it... until I got to the next-to-last frame. Then I stopped and asked "what the heck?" Even if the quality of that image were better I'd rather have the mystery of why she is expressing those emotions. In general, though, a really cool concept and nice pics of the woman.

The title could be viewed as being racist in nature.
For example, if you had posted a title "A Night with the Jew" or "A Night with the Polish" you would get negative comments. Arab people seem to be open targets these days even though Arabs are semites and being antisemetic is frowned upon.

I had a similar thought when I first saw the thread title. After seeing the photo series I decided it was simply descriptive. Perhaps we have different sensitivies, though. If there were some negative descriptor I might agree with you: e.g. (and I think I can say this since it is partially self-descriptive) A Night With The Irish vs A Night With The Drunken Irish. There's a big difference there.

!?!!? What?....

....Where did you get racist notions from the title? I'm confused...

Someone changed the title, I am guessing that it was not necessarily pertinent to the intent of the thread as stated in Pherdi's initial post.

hey, that guy in the second last pic looks like me... so my face probably looked a bit like a question mark when i got there... but the strip is beautiful. nothing less, though - like me or not - the second last was a bit odd...

HI Pherdinand,
I like the style of this strip! having pictures of her in those varying emotional expressions is a good idea! You could use your RF with slide film and tell the processor not to cut the stips!

There is a thing I wanted to build for a long time for decorating my apartment...a "light box" serveral Meters wide and of 2,4 or 6cm height with neon lights inside and a milk glass up front, so I could fix my fav. (uncut) slides on it and use it as a room lamp! A strip of frames like yours would look very nice on such a light box/designer lamp 😉 (maybe better than individual "good" frames with no matching contend)

Sorry for the OT question since the title has been changed and all but Raid I don´t understand....why is "arab" a racist word to you? to me if the thread would say "a night with a jew" that would be a religous insult as "...with a muslim" but arab is just a provenience description isn´t it? for exaple the "united arabic emirates" call themselves so...or the "circle of arabic leaders" as they call themself.
I think a lot of Media fed people can´t differetiate ..so an arab = muslim = terrorist which is, as we all know a big big nonsense!

PLease correct me if I´m wrong but I don´t understand why this is racist (I just don´t know better) but I would like to understand...

Love & peace for all the people in the world!

Friedrich, I think the point is that racism is a personal thing. Clearly there are undefendable acts and beliefs of racism, but some more subtle examples are simply not well defined or recognized by all. I have no doubt that there was no malice intended in the original title of this thread, but I feel it is working as it is stated right now. Race, gender, religion.... all simply have nothing to do with the content of this discussion pertaining to the photo strip presented.

Let me clarify why I see the title lacking respect.
If the title had been .... Arab Person... or .... Arab Woman... then this is different from ... "Arab". The same way I would say "Jewish Person" or "Jewish Woman" and I never say "the Jew".

Anyways, the thread is about the photos and the display of the photos and not about any ethnic group. Such discussions usually end up in chaos.

Perfectly put, I was just wondering

Thanks Raid, now I see what you were meaning! (it´s not allways easy for a not native english speaker to understand such things)

Btw..I love RFF and the members for beeing soo open minded and showing respect for each other!

oh and sorry for hijacking your thread Pherdinand!

Perhaps the title wasn't perfectly descriptive... but it sure did raise some emotions. (Isn't that one of the goals of art and photography: to make a statement and evoke emotion?)

Now that I look at the photo series again, I can't even tell that its night time. Pherdi, how about renaming it to "Euphoric Daydream", then it will be clear that these photos are about a good experience this woman was having... no matter how one wants to describe the national origins of person she's dreaming about.

The photos look similar to photos coming from a digital small camera, maybe a security camera or computer camera.
