What do you think about it...

personally I'd like such a focussing aid.

(the size difference was not intended)

I have been hoping for this kind of mode ever since I got my NEX-5N. This would help with simultaneous framing and focusing, which I currently find hopeless with manual focus lenses and any faster action. It would also be good to be able to select how peaking is applied:

1. Select magnification mode: full frame mag., or picture-in-picture
2. Select peaking on/off independently for both above modes and no magnification (and the full image in case of p-i-p magnification)

This would allow you to use any customized combination you like, for example:

- Use peaking when not magnified
- When magnified, apply p-i-p magnification, use peaking only in background image

In addition, allow to use a different peaking colour for the background image and the p-i-p magnification. And allow to customize the size and location of the p-i-p box independently of the area selected for magnification.

Realistically, some of these could be buried deep into the menu system (personally I would probably set them only once), but a good user interface for controlling the size, location, and source area of the magnification window is obviously lacking. I could live with a centre-positioned box whose size is controlled in the menu and magnified area selected on the touch screen (like AF focus or magnified area in playback).
