Hi everyone,

I have a Nikon F90x, a F4s and a F5 which are all in good condition and use them regularly. Recently I bought a Nikkor 50 F1.8G and autofocuses fine on the F5 and the older F4s but not on the F90s. Is that normal? The older 50 1.8 D works fine in all three.

Edit: here is the lens

That may be normal. I know the F4 was well-advanced and does support AF-S lenses even though there were none around at the time. Not sure if the F90x supports AF-S. Nothing to do with D or G. :)

The F90x does support AFS; it happily auto focusses my 24-120 AFS lens..

Only restriction is that it exposes at f22 in A and M mode, so you're basically restricted to P and S mode. Oh, and it doesn't do VR.

I read somewhere that among Nikon film bodies, the G lenses work on just a few of them. I know for sure G lenses work on my N/F-80, and I remember they didn't work on an N/F-90 of a friend. I believe they (G lenses) will work on F-100 bodies too. I don't know beyond that.

But, I don't think there's anything amiss. I just don't think G lenses work on the N-90 series.
