4/3 Rumors is reporting that, within hours, "a rangefinder company" plans to announce a new major m4/3 product.

In a (maybe to enthusiastic) statement one source wrote that “it is a product that 99% of you want and 20% of you will really buy“.

intriguing!

Leica X2, same as X1 but no lens, instead....an m mount.....

wait...I should not say things like that, I just got a M8....

verrrry interesting... Zeiss has made mention of announcing new products and accessories soon? But I secretly hope it's voigtlander...

Maybe leica has collaborated with Panasonic for some AF primes the way they did on regular 4/3rds?

Oh, you did! Glad to hear you're giving it a try--how do you like it, Colin? It continues to be my favorite camera.

Yes I finally bit down and got one. 4 years waiting was starting to drive me nuts and all my so called fixes to not have to get an M8 didnt work.

I have not got my hands on it yet though. Bought it a month ago, it was Kevin's, but I could not have it mailed to me because of a 30% import tax on all electronic items here in China. Had it sent to my old man who is in America and is coming here early next month. I cant wait, I am having dreams about the thing, and wonder which lens I will mount first and all that haha....

I am going to shoot the heck out of it when I get it though, then make a write up as well.

From what I've seen the IQ on that thing is miles above the current crop of 4/3 cameras. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

yay, more wild speculation!!! I also just got the M8, so this better be something worthless for me. I'd hate to have buyers remorse, I am loving my M8 too much.

Eh...in good light, the M8's files win by a wide margin. But indoors, at ISO 800 and up, m4/3 gives more natural colors, and the IS in the Pen series is a huge boon for manual focus shooting at slow shutter speeds. They complement each other really well, in my experience...

I have been wondering if the EP1 IS even works with adapted lenses, I have tried turning it on and off with my M mount lenses and I have not noticed a difference at all, even at low low speeds.

And in regards to the M8...I dont care about the image quality that much or I would have got a 5Dmk2 or something like that. I bought it with my heart, left the squishy and annoying brain stuff out of this purchase.

I think M8 picture quality is excellent. Better than my old 5D in good light.

I will be able to judge that too, my wife has a 5D and it is excellent.

***pokes head out***

Any new rumor news? No? ok.....

***Goes back in***

I am really looking forward to using some real Zeiss glass on a digital like the M8. I have used Sony alpha cameras with those ZA Zeiss lenses but they really dont...."feel" zeiss, they are missing what ever it is that is that zeissness that the ZM lenses have.

A native-mount fast 18 would get me to buy into the system. A 25 would not.

100% in agreement.
And I'm already "in" the system :p

This is my primary beef with Olympus, they came out with the system that is perfect for small compact primes, but all they do is crank out zoom after zoom (slow ones at that).

So if anyone else will create a 35mm full-frame equivalent lens that are fast and small, they will get my money.
