Dear all,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody here at RFF and in particular in this forum, their families and indeed their motifs a happy picture filled 2008.

Being a relative newcomer to this forum I have been very positively surprised by the gentle tone, the helpfulness and the level of available knowledge present.

For various reasons my everyday shooting abilities are limited and confined to once in a while thus it is a constant positive force to read the threads and in particular view the many wonderful photographs.

In fear of leaving somebody out it will suffice to state that I do not think there has been a single day yet (in about three months time) where I have not seen at least one, typically more, photograph and learned a lot from it. It is an enlightening experience watching how so many of you have developed a distinctive personal style that is easily identifiable when watching the gallery yet once and again manage to break out and reinvent. I have over a very long time frequented many sites but this one has a very special feeling to it – the best way I can sum it up is a genuine joy of picture making.

I am helplessly falling in love with the black and white pictures that so many of you master to an impressive degree. So keep ‘em coming in 2008 and I will try to comment on as many as possible.

Finally a single plea – if at all possible please state a location (and perhaps year) of the photographs you upload.

Best wishes

I'll second that. As a relative newbie also, I'm still amazed at the level of expertise and depth of knowledge captured here. No one is reticent about expressing strong, and usually informed, opinion. And, for the most part, even longwinded debates are handled with grace and adult behavior.

I've learned much, and I'm having fun.

well, have a nice following year, with many good shots with your R-D1. Enjoy the camera, as I do (I got it a couple of weeks ago), and let's hope together that someone, let's say Sony, will soon continue develloping that wonderful camera!

Cheers,
