Aaaaaaaahhhhhh! (cautionary tale)

Well, I fussed around for a few days after Oscar kindly pointed out an M2 available at KEH, and when I opened the page to call them a moment ago to get it, it was gone.

I hope it was one of you guys, because that way it'll be easier to find you and pry it from your still-warm hands. Please have it CLA'ed first.

Moral? Never wait.

Same happened to me a while ago... I had been eyeing up an Elmarit 135/2.8 with eyes since, maybe, December... and the day after I consulted with the KEH folks about it, I was set to order it and it was gone.

No idea of who snatched it... but it wasn't anyone from here, or at least, I don't think so.

Merciful, keep hovering over Photo.net and KEH. These particular days are good for buyers; last year, in January, I got my Hexanon 35/2 for a really good price.

Better luck next time! :)

There will be more offers soon. Just keep your money ready; don't spend it on useless things like food, rent, mortgage or car repairs!

Same tune, different item. I hesitated when Don offered his IIIf RD ST Leica body here and when I contacted him about buying it, it had been promised already. :(

600 EURO... ouch.
Then there's the postage from Europe to NZ. I rather rather pay for the postage for 8x10 from the US.

If the M2 from KEH is gone, bugger.
I shall keep on looking. For once my money isn't burning a hole in my pocket and I can wait...

Argh ! Sorry to hear that :(

Keep your eyes open at KEH and some other online dealers, Midwest Photo Exchange, KOH's, etc.

And probably one of your best bets is to place a WTB ad at photonet, the traffic in their Leica forum is huge and sure somebody has something to part with.

Also, I guess that M3 for sale here with a 50 Summi for $700 is still there, argh! I wish I could grab that one :bang:

I'd be keen on an M3, but the lack of 35mm frame lines does bother me.
And when it comes to using 35mm Eyes on a M3, I've heard both good and bad stories which makes me nervous.

Stu :)

I did not buy the one at KEH. After the week I had, there is at least one camera that I did not snatch up.

At camera shows I always wait for someone to put a lens or camera down on the table before I snatch it up and buy it. I never grab it out of their hands. The $55 Komura was on the table for 0.5sec before I picked it up and told the seller "I want this". The guy looking at it was making mental notes. It is the only RF coupled 200mm that I have ever seen.

Merciful, KEH has a menu item called "In Transit" or something like that. When you click it, you are taken to a page listing items that are "on the way." You sign up to be emailed when that item arrives, and you get a head start. I checked several items out that way.
